Eritrea has officially declared itself virus-free after all 39 patients successfully recovered from COVID-19.
A Ministry of Health statement said the 39th patient had been discharged from hospital as of Friday, May 15.
The country's Information Minister, Yemane Meskel also confirmed the news in a tweet saying: 'Announcement from Ministry of Health
'Last patient has recovered fully after tests at National Laboratory & was released from hospital today;
*This important milestone means all 39 confirmed cases in the country to-date have recovered fully.'
Last week Friday, there were only two active cases, one of which was discharged on the 11th before the last patient recovered on Friday, and has also been discharged too.
Eritrea now joins Mauritius as the only two African countries that have recorded full recoveries.
Eritea is among other African countries including Madagascar, Central Africa Republic, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, Lesotho, Rwanda and Uganda that have not recorded deaths as of May 15,
The Rivers state police command is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the gruesome murder of a young man identified as Leonard Chika, in front of his girlfriend in the Mile 3 axis of Diobu in Port Harcourt, the state capital on Friday, May 15.
A Facebook user, Ezebunwo Ichemati, who shared the story online, wrote,
Another promising innocent life have been cut short this morning the 15th day of May 2020, in a mistaken identity hit that occurred this morning in the mile3 axis of Diobu in Port Harcourt.
What started about 5weeks ago as a minor battle for who takes matching ground rites from traders has gradually grown into a full blown cult war amongst two major cult groups in the heart of Mile3 Diobu, with both sides counting human loss.

The Rivers State police command especially the Mile3 divisional police station, cannot feign ignorance to the cult related killings numbering about 4 and the recent killing of this innocent young man named leonard Chika making it a total of 5 people murdered in cold blood in the streets of Mile3 Diobu.
The deliberate silence and inactions of the Rivers State police command have emboldened these daredevils that outside attacking their rivals, they also go in a looting spree and carry out destruction of people’s properties when on any mission.
Leo was a friend and a very hardworking young man who doesn’t mind doing anything to earn a living no matter how belittling as long as it is legal. Today in the presence of his girlfriend those who cannot give life shot and killed him in cold blood.”

Spokesperson of the state police command, Nnamdi Omoni, who confirmed the incident, said efforts are being made to arrest the suspected killers.
“Unknown gunmen killed him. We were able to identify him and then he was taken to the mortuary. Investigation has commenced and all hands are on deck to arrest the killers.
Preliminary investigations suggest it was a cult clash but we cannot lend credence to that until our investigation is concluded.” Omoni said
Former Kogi-West Senator, Dino Melaye, has succeded in halting the Infectious Diseases Control Bill from being passed into law by the House of Representatives.
The else lawmaker had last week filed a suit against the National Assembly over the consideration of the bill sponsored by Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila.
A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Friday ordered the House to maintain status quo on the bill which has passed second reading.
Justice Ifeoma Ojukwu also summoned Gbajabiamila; the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, as well as the clerk of the National Assembly over the bill.
Melaye filed the suit FHC/ABJ/CS/463/2020, citing alleged breach of his right to freedom and life before the Federal High Court in Abuja. He asked the court to stop the passage of the bill.
In a motion ex parte dated May 13, 2020, the court stated, “An order of this honourable court is hereby made mandating the respondents to appear before this court on May 20, 2020, to show cause why the application of this applicant should not be granted.
“Should the respondents fail to attend court on the date stated for the hearing on this matter, the reliefs sought ex parte shall be granted.”
Since its introduction two weeks ago, the infectious diseases bill has drawn a wide range of controversies.
Sponsored by Gbajabiamila, the bill seeks to, among other things, make possession of health card mandatory for international travellers leaving or arriving in Nigeria — just like yellow fever card.
Adapted from a similar law in Singapore, some Nigerians have labelled it as draconian and unfit for a democratic Nigeria.
Some of the opposition to the bill also questioned the powers it vested in the Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and the health minister to convert any property to an isolation centre
Late Rinji Peter Bala
Soldiers of the Nigerian Army, Tuesday opened fire at unarmed civilians in Jos, Plateau State, killing a university undergraduate, reports say.
Mr. Rinji Peter Bala, a 300Level student of the University of Jos, was arrested at about 7pm local time, in his neighborhood, Hwolshe, during lockdown.
He and six others, eyewitnesses say were whisked to Sector 1 headquarters of the Special Task Force near Jos Zaria Road stadium, on a military patrol van.
“They didn’t tell us our offense, but tortured us for over an hour before releasing us.
“At the gate, some soldiers asked us to run. When we took off, they opened fire. Bobo (Rinji Peter) fell few meters from the gate (Sector Command entrance).
“I stopped to help him up but a soldier came close, with his gun pointed at me but turned back when another soldier shouted “ceasefire,”” said a survivor.
Peter’s father, a Secret Service Agent was at the Sector Command shortly after the murder. He was according to him told by the Sector Commandant that the kids were found innocent and released.
“I saw a corpse at the entrance of the military base but didn’t know it was my son; and they never told me until I met a fellow detainee while driving home,” Mr. Bala told relatives.
As of publishing time, Bala and other family members were deeply grieving and unable to talk to press.
Police and military authorities had equally not responded to requests for comments.
Belly Mujinga died from Covid-19 after being spat on while working at Victoria station, central London.
(CNN)A British railway ticket office worker has died from Covid-19 after being spat on while she was working at Victoria station in central London.
Belly Mujinga, 47, was working with a colleague when a member of the public assaulted them, spat and coughed over them and said he had the novel coronavirus, said her union, the Transport Salaried Staffs Association (TSSA), in a statement Tuesday.
Mujinga, who had an underlying health condition, was working for Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) on the station concourse at the time of the incident on March 22.
British Transport Police said in a statement to CNN that an investigation into the incident had been launched.
"Belly and her colleague begged to be let to work from inside the building with a protective barrier between them and the public for the rest of that day," TSSA said in its statement.
"Management said they needed people working outside and sent them back out onto the concourse for the rest of their shift."
Both women went back outside and completed their shift, added the union, but they had no personal protective equipment.
Mujinga had underlying respiratory problems for which she had had an operation, regular hospital appointments and had previously needed to take time off work, according to TSSA.
The union says GTR knew about her condition and, even after the incident, only stood Mujinga down after her doctor called her work around March 25.
Manuel Cortes, TSSA general secretary, accused GTR of not taking Mujinga's assault "seriously enough" and criticized the company.
"As a vulnerable person in the 'at risk' category and her condition known to her employer, there are questions about why GTR didn't stand her down from front line duties early on in this pandemic," Cortes said in the TSSA statement. "There are serious questions about her death, it wasn't inevitable."
GTR is investigating the accusations, it said in a statement to CNN on Tuesday, adding it takes the allegations "extremely seriously."
"The safety of our customers and staff, who are key workers themselves, continues to be front of mind at all times and we follow the latest Government advice," Angie Doll, managing director at Southern Railway and Gatwick Express, said in the statement.
"We are devastated that our dedicated colleague Belly has passed away and our deepest sympathies are with her family, with whom we have been in touch through this very difficult time," she also said.
Both Mujinga and her colleague fell ill from Covid-19 within days of the assault, according to TSSA.
On April 2 -- just 11 days after the incident -- Mujinga was taken to Barnet Hospital, north London, in an ambulance and put on a ventilator.
"Belly died on 5 April, 14 days after she was assaulted at Victoria station," TSSA said.
She leaves behind an 11-year-old daughter and a husband, who last saw her when she was taken away by ambulance, the union added.
"We are shocked and devastated at Belly's death," Cortes said in the TSSA statement. The union said it is taking legal advice on the situation and supporting Mujinga's family and colleagues.
It also reported the incident to the Railways Inspectorate, the safety arm of the Office for Road and Rail (ORR).
An ORR spokesperson told CNN the office is investigating the incident.
TSSA revealed Mujinga's story as the British Government urged some people to return to work if they are not able do so from home, easing some of the restrictions it had put in place to stop the spread of Covid-19.
The union says there is not enough guidance or protection for workers on the front line, such as Mujinga.
"Rather than talking about the easing the lockdown, the government must first ensure that the right precautions and protections have been taken so that more lives are not lost," Cortes said.
"Our rail industry needs to have a very serious look at what tasks are deemed 'essential' and must put protections in place for all our members and our passengers."
The TSSA also called on the government to implement additional measures to compensate frontline workers from the railway industry for their work during these difficult times.
Killer of the young Nigeria man, Micah Isaiah also known as Leo who was murdered after being kidnapped earlier this week has been found
It was gathered that the sad incident happened on May 12, around Willow Wood hotel in the Imo State capital, Owerri.
Igbere TV reported that the deceased was said to be a good friend of his alleged killer and had rendered a lot of help to him while alive.
According to finding of the Investigations conducted, the killer friend got jealous after Leo bought a brand new Lexus es350.
The friend, however, decided to kidnap Leo and then took him to Anambra State, where his Lexus es350 was sold and made away with the valuables of the deceased friend.
The suspect, that is, the jealous friend, confessed he hired people who appeared in military dress code and abducted his friend to their scene of crime.
The jealous friend who knew the whole plan all along was sitting with his (late) friend when the fake military men kidnapped him.
The culprit confessed that on getting to their scene of crime in Anambra, they smashed his head with a very big stone visible at the scene which has been censored and cropped out.

Mysterious Death Of Margaret Okumu: Family petitions Lagos CP, accuses friends of burying their daughter and refusing to disclose details to them.
(Exclusive) Mysterious Death Of Margaret Okumu: Family petitions Lagos CP, accuses friends of burying their daughter and refusing to disclose details to them.
THE family of Okumu in Oju Local government area of Benue State, has petitioned the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosuover the mysterious death of their daughter Margaret Okumu .
An investigation by FabmimiBlog revealed that the petitioners who are relatives from Igede land and resident in Lagos State , said their daughter died a mysterious death and was also buried without their knowledge.
In the petition sent to the Lagos State Commissioner Of Police, Mr Tony Iji a journalist and the representative of the family of Margaret accused her friends of hiding information regarding the death of their sister.
The family alleged that Margaret died few days ago under the custody of Marvelous and Nneka.
The family claimed their attention was drawn to the death of Margaret on Facebook few days ago somewhere at Aja area of Lagos where she was living with Miss Marvelous Mary and Nneka Buddy who are said to be her friends.
Tony said upon enquiries, the Igede people in Lagos were able to establish contact with Marvelous Mary on phone number 07040869026 and Nneka Buddy on her Facebook page, who reluctantly revealed to them that Miss Margaret was their friend but now dead and that her dead body is in their custody.
They told the family that they had the instruction of the late Margaret not to allow members of her family to know anything about her death and that they were authorized by the deceased to bury her according to her wish.
Since then, all effort by the deceased family and the Igede community here in Lagos to know the cause and circumstances surrounding Margaret’s death has been rebuffed by Marvelous and Nneka who are the only persons with information about her death.
They later sent a chat message on WhatsApp to one member of the family with a picture of a casket showing that the late Margaret has been buried.
All efforts by members of the family to get more details surrounding the death and eventual burial of Margaret from Marvelous and Nneka Buddy has proved abortive due to their refusal to co-operate with the family.
One of the girls ,Miss Marvelous Mary threatened to discard her phone number (07040869026) after the burial as a way of blocking the family from further reaching her and all efforts at reaching late Margaret’s personal phone number, 0811377322 has not yielded any result as the phone is permanently switched off.
In the petition to the CP Mr Tony Iji noted that the other person who has information about late Margaret is one Sylvester with phone number 08142586049, who claims to be her boyfriend. Sylvester said he learnt about the death of Margaret through Marvelous and Nneka but does not know where they live, though he is aware that late Margaret was living with them.
To this end, the family is in a state of dilemma on how to get to the root of the story surrounding her demise.
This has cost the family of late Margaret a lot of trauma, especially her mother who is insisting on seeing the body of her daughter if she is truly dead.
“We therefore appeal to the police authority under your leadership to wade in by investigating the incident with the view to establishing the facts and circumstances surrounding her death and eventual burial without the knowledge and consent of her family” he pleaded with the police in their petition.
